Dear all

on behalf of FAANG Europe I'm happy to announce:

*Hackathon and beyond:**
**Animal genome analysis and non-coding RNA annotation**
*Copenhagen November 24-25, 2016

FAANG Europe COST Action invites the community to a joint effort on comparative
genome analysis and annotation of non-coding and structured RNA in farm animal.
The work will be initiated in Copenhagen, but is expected to continue
interactively in a combination of TC calls and subsequent hackathons. The long
term goals are:
1) comparative genomic analysis to map conservation and syntenic regions
2) annotation of known and de novo structured RNAs
3) comparative transcriptomic analysis for non-coding transcripts

The specific aim of the hackathon is to initiate the work by
• Identifying which genomes and transcriptomes to work on
• Complete the basic quality assessment
• Identify the relevant non-coding RNA databases

Anyone interested can apply, but we expect commitment to continue the
collaboration beyond the hackathon. Furthermore, applicants should possess strong
and relevant scripting skills. Priority will be given to candidates matching the
backgrounds of the three listed aims.

FAANG Europe COST Action provides travel and accommodation support (up to 710
EUR) for 14 participants in the Copenhagen Hackathon. Further costs at subsequent
hackathon should be covered by the participants themselves.

To apply for participation the applicant should fill out the attached sheet and
send it to faangrth.dk with subject
line: “faang hackathon”, at the latestOctober 28 2pm (CEST)

For further information send email to: faangrth.dk.
bw,
Jan
