Hi everyone,

We've made some updates to the metadata specification for samples, based on
feedback received from contributors preparing sample information. These
changes should make it easier to describe your samples.

The sample templates and guidelines have been updated to reflect this. These
are available here -
http://www.ebi.ac.uk/seqdb/confluence/display/FAANG/Submission+of+samples+to+BioSamples

The changes are described in detail here -
http://www.ebi.ac.uk/seqdb/confluence/display/FAANG/Changes+proposed+for+metadata+spec+v2

We held a workshop last Friday, covering the preparation and submission of
metadata for FAANG. The coursebook and example files are available for anyone
who was unable to attend -
http://www.ebi.ac.uk/seqdb/confluence/display/FAANG/FAANG+Samples+workshop+April+2016
.
Thanks to everyone who came, the feedback has been really useful.

If anyone has any queries about preparing metadata, please contact faang-
dccebi.ac.uk, were happy to help.
Best wishes, Dave
